Up Up And Away
I LOVE to travel! I have had the fortune of traveling to some of the most amazing places in the world and am always on the lookout for my next adventure. But whether I am hoping on a 45 minute flight to San Francisco, a 5 hour flight to New York, or jumping the pond all the way to Paris, I always make sure my bag is packed and ready to go with all my favorite essentials. This week I am heading to New York and figured while I was packing, I might as well snap a few pictures and share them!
Let’s start with the most important item – your bag! While I love a good designer bag just as much as the next gal, you will rarely if ever catch me with one on a plane for a multitude of reasons. My perfect solution – the Jansport Big Student Backpack. It’s affordable, durable, comes in tons of colors and has TONS of pockets….I LOVE POCKETS!!
Picture Time! I love my Instax Mini 9 – it’s the cutest little polaroid camera and I love being able to snap quick fun shots with it during my travel. It also comes in lots of colors and fun film options too!
No shade! But really, you need a good pair of shades. Whether you want to look stylish or just catch some discreet zzz’s on the plane, a pair of sunglasses is ALWAYS a good idea. These super cute oversized ones are my absolute fav!
Cell phone and charger! Does anyone really leave home without their cell these days? I think not! But what most people don’t have is a reliable portable charger. I NEVER travel without one. This one is always in my bag and seriously holds an INSANE amount of power. It can easily bring my phone back from the dead to a full charge countless times before every needing to be recharged.
Always be prepared. Whether I am traveling for work or play, I don’t go without my planner and at least a few business cards. The Erin Condren planner is my go-to. They have my favorite horizontal layout every and come in tons of fun designs. Also, for those curious, I get all my business materials printed at Moo.
I feel like we are programmed to automatically want snacks when we sit down on a plane. But I always like to BMOS – Bring my own snacks. I usually bring two, something salty and something sweet. Lately I have been loving the Truffle Almonds from Trader Joes. And you can never go wrong with classic M&M’s.
Wet Ones – hi, no germs for me thanks! As soon as I sit down on a plane, I wipe down the seat, arm rests, tray table and video screen. I’ll spare you the “germy” stomach turning statistics on this and just say…DO IT!
Vitamins, Medications, Supplements, etc. all fit perfectly in this adorable little grapefruit pill case. It’s cute, holds a great amount and spins for a daily dispense feature. You never want to check things like this in case your bag gets misplaced.
Planes tend to do two things to my skin – dry it out and make it puffy. I use the Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil with my Nurse Jamie Roller to combat puffiness, especially when I have to go straight someplace after a flight. To moisturize, I love using the Fresh Sugar Lemon Lip Balm and Sunday Riley Jet Lag Mask – such a fitting name right?!
I am quite the bookworm and flights are the perfect chance to catch up on a good book. Right now I am reading “Girl Wash Your Face” and “The Stylist“.
Low key obsessed with my bluetooth UltraViolet Beats headphones. I got them for a total steal on eBay and highly recommend them.
Hair ties are just an essential period. No matter if I am traveling or not, I always have a few Invisi-bobbles in my bag. They are a traceless hair tie that hold their shape, don’t cause damage and come in tons of styles and colors. While the original dark brown ones are my staple, lately I have been absolutely loving the Donut and Macaron ones!
So there you have it, I know it might seem like a lot to some, but honestly, I use EVERY last thing and they just make plane travel so much for relaxing and enjoyable. What’s YOUR number one plane essential?
